Read Here:
Sixty YearsSix years old, a frilly dress
whose hemline masked these ill-scraped knees,
Six years old, cool ice cream smears
a branded face alive with glee.
But six years old and all I saw
the empty park in morning blue
while pieces of an aged man
sat waiting still, his breathing slow.
A ring too large for wrinkled fingers
danced in hands both weak and thin.
He looked above, then right and left,
as drops of sweat broke on his skin.
Six minutes 'til the white of dawn
approached when someone called his name;
her shirtdress black, a tear-stained laugh,
he blinked a moment as she came.
The man had whispered and the girl
keeled over with her cheeks so pink;
I didn't get what he proclaimed,
but it was about love, I think:
"Sixty years of uplifting hugs,
A hand to hold, a smile I've kissed
To paint my missing heart you found
A ticklish swell of sunburnt bliss."
His eyes shone like a rainbow gleam,
Her mirth flowed like a raging stream.
"I've loved you always, by my side,
or when the seas rise high betwee

mojave babya farmer's son in blue jeans
took his girl for a drive
in a red pickup truck
on the new state highway,
which was a black ribbon laid down across the desert's dusty back,
so smooth and sleek that
the vehicle fairly flew,
through the land of scrub brush and rattlers and
hard, white, cracked earth,
under the twilight sky,
which was letting a summer sun down slowly,
and was stained with purple and pink and orange;
she had her hair down that day,
with one of the red flowers he had brought for her
tucked behind her ear,
and she rolled down the window
and put her hand out, fingers extending
to trail through the warm wind,
and smiled,
and smiled.

3rd: Only a Theory CalumDC
Read Here:
Only a TheoryOnly a theory
No point in belief
Here in the dark
There's no relief
There's no 'spark'
Love is a theory
Forgotten concept
Leaving him weary
Alone he wept
He hates every store
Displays of cruel red
Flowers, bears galore
A bright mocking spread
Peering through glass
A dull empty glare
Seeing a moment pass
Through eyes of despair
The lights shine out
Drowning the street
And the one without
Stares at his feet
Damp, sparkling stone
Streaming far away
He remains alone
How he will stay
A small tear grows
Glistens on his skin
A cold droplet shows
The loneliness within
The damage is done
Here in the night
Sadness has won
Won't be alright
A theory of lies
And nothing more
Yet still he cries
His soul grows sore
He can't withstand
The sharp dejection
He can't understand
Permanent rejection
He wipes tears away
The waters of defeat
Upon him they weigh
Forced into retreat
Love holds no hope
Love he can't attain
Struggling to cope
Buried in his pain

Now... We move on to the most difficult aspect of this contest to judge... The prose... DUN DUN DUUN!!

And now... DRUMROOOOOOL!!!! :squee:

To Love AgainA breezy summer day had dawned once more over the rapidly expanding town of Swan Valley. It was warm enough for the elderly to have their daily hour of fresh air, without complaints about the weather. The employees and volunteers at Mimosa After Care Center brought the residents outside for their walks. One old man slowly walked down the path, with assistance from his cane, breathing in deeply.
He gradually left the boundaries of the home.  It was as if a permanent scowl was etched on his face, as he scanned the path he would take to Tuberose Park.
Every day, the old man left the sadness of Mimosa behind for an hour of peace in Tuberose Park, just across from the elderly home. It was the only good thing he had to look to forward to, after all he had been through in his life. He had been in love, happy and healthy at home with his wife and daughter. But his wife wasn't happy, and after he had discovered her multiple affairs, they had divorced. Shortly after, his health took a

Poisonous LoveWarning: Contains (m/m) themes.
Summary: Jake's always been a bit of a loner. He keeps to himself and doesn't mind it that way. But he can't help it when his eyes are drawn in by the dazzlingly personality of Hunter, the most popular jock in his class. But slowly, Hunter breaks down Jake's invisible shield and they become friends through peculiar circumstances. Still, is it really possible for Jake to be just friends with Hunter? Can he keep his feelings bottled up?
Jake watched that delicious sweat drip down Hunter's back as he ran in for another lay-up. His biceps bunched as he moved, and a mesmerizing smile displayed across his radiate face, slowing down time and causing the raven-haired boy's heart to ache.
Jake had been observing from the bleachers each day for the past week since basketball practice started. He, of course, told the devoted athlete that he was just there for moral support and as his friend.
But in reality, the boy with emerald eyes and jet-black hair
